Treasured

As I laid Kalia down this morning my thoughts went to my mother and father. My dad has always been good with his hands, whether it be painting a picture, drawing, building , or fixing something. One particular piece of work has been used and greatly appreciated by several members of our family. My dad built this cradle when my oldest brother was born and it has been passed down to siblings, cousins, and friends. I feel somewhat honored to have it be a piece of furniture in our home. Knowing that my brothers and I slept in it as newborns, and now I get to share it with my own daughter.

My mother is a wonderful seamstress. A couple months ago she took me to a fabric store and we picked out some cute fabric for the cradle. She spent many hours cutting and sewing crib sheets and a bumper. Customised just for Kalia. These are just some of the name plates of the babies that have used this cradle. There are several more who have had the privilege of using this, but time gets the best of us and the plates just haven't been made.
I loved thinking of my parents today and all that they have done and do for us, and for that I am very grateful!

Last week in pictures

This is a long post but, I've been getting nagged about not posting pictures. So... here are a few pictures from last week.
~
Shane had to go to Ireland for work. We took a few pictures before he left and I love this one with him holding Kalia. He's such a proud daddy!!

a quick one of the three of us.Auntie Kara came over for the weekend and soaked up every minute she could being an Auntie.Elizabeth came and spent the week with me while Shane was gone to Ireland. I am so thankful for family who love us. It would have been a long week alone if she hadn't been here!Uncle Jed meeting his niece for the first time! I had a good laugh when I really thought about our shopping trip the other day. Here Elizabeth is carrying Kalia in the Bjorn and we are pushing around a stroller. Why? Just so we have a place for our bags? Of course isn't that what a stroller is for? I think she was in the stroller for a grand total of 20 min. that day. She would much rather be carried. Fresh baked bread! Mmm... it just makes the house smell so good! I wish i could make bread every day just for the aroma!A scene from a walka peaceful walking trail
Reading nursery rhymesLove this picture of her stretchingSun setting in Seattle. We have an absolutely gorgeous fall. It's been clear and sunny for over a week now. I LOVE IT!

Grandma's Time to Cuddle

Well, to start off with, Kalia has celebrated her one month birthday ALREADY!!! Wow, time flies! And it's amazing how fast they grow! One day she fits in an outfit, and the next day she can't! We enjoyed a walk down the main street in Issaquah during the Salmon Days Festival. Shane got the use the Bjorn carrier for the first time. Sure beats trying to push a stroller through the crowds!Sunday night was a special night for me. My mom came to visit me and brought along with her my dear Grandma! What a sweet surprise!!!
So... Here is Great Grandma Clarice! And Grandma Pam!While we were altogether we had to get a picture of moms and their daughters. This is evidence of four generations! Pretty amazing. And a quick shot with my brother Ryan and Kamea!
