The view as we drove Hwy 2
(and oh... don't forget the beautiful power lines :)

After I dropped Shane off at his campsite, I drove into Leavenworth to wait for Nicole. I grabbed a coffee and sat down outside to enjoy the warm sunny day. After a while, I looked down and chucked at what I saw on the table, coffee and a cell phone. 2 essentials ingredients to our busy lives! While Shane was packing his camping gear he realized he must have coffee somehow or else he was not going to be a happy camper. So, I bought him some Starbucks instant coffee packs and a pot be could boil water in. He seems to have made it through the weekend alright. The next dilemma happened to be our cell phones. You don't realize how much you communicate with these things until you are banned from using them!! There was no service at the campsite where Shane was!!!! We ran out of time/failed to make plans as to whether he would need the car the next day and where I would pick him up on Sunday before we parted (assuming we would have our typical way of communication!!). So... we lived the old fashion way for a weekend. Wondering how the other was doing, when and where we would meet up again, etc.... I got a call from an unknown # on Sunday afternoon, it was Shane. He had gotten a ride into town (but his cell phone had lost all battery) and was able to call me from a hotel there. All was well after that!

Lesson learned: Every one's day is better with a happy (caffeinated) camper!!
And always, make plans before you part with you loved one in the wilderness!!!

Me posing on an old mining bridge

Cute one of Nicole

The view from the bridge!! Beautiful country!

Since it was a girls weekend and all, we had planned on getting pedicures and or massages. Well, I guess we were too late in our plans, because all three parlors were booked up!!! So, we opted for the 'Au Natural' scrub and let nature do its handy work! (It didn't work as well as we had hoped!! ha-ha) But, we did enjoy soaking up the sun, on the sandy beach, next to the river!!

This one's for Mom and Dad Kleppen. Proof that the Camero was in Leavenworth!!

When we were reunited on Sunday afternoon, Shane took me to the place where they learned to rock climb! Sounds like he will be embarking on a new adventure..... rock climbing! I guess he had a good time!

So, that was our weekend.
Thanks Nicole for a fun and relaxing weekend! Can't wait for the next one!
