Memorial day weekend

Well... we had no plans to go out of town for the long weekend, so we just enjoyed ourselves here. Friday and Saturday we helped my brother and sister in law move to their new home.
This is how I found Shane after the grueling task of 'shoving' their couches up two flights of stairs. They barely fit in the stairwell, so they had to be forced up the stairs!Monday morning we got up early and went for a little hike in the mountains. It was an absolutely beautiful day, so we're glad we got to take advantage of it! This is one of the many gorgeous views we had on our hike. This is the first falls you come too. And this is the second. Where the falls start.(Kind of hard to see, sorry)As soon as we got home from our hike, we got right back in the car in search of a good target shooting spot. It's not like home where you can walk out your back door and try out your new gun. We must have drove 20 miles or so to get up in the mountains. But it was fun so watch the boys with their new toys!Taking a break in the warm sun! There's nothing like a long weekend to just do whatever comes about. Sure was relaxing! Hope everyone else had a wonderful long weekend!

Beautiful Days!

Ah... the Palouse! The landscape itself is beautiful, but it sure helps to admire it when it's sunny and 70 degrees! Shane and I slipped over the mountains for the weekend to say good bye to his sister who is going back home for the summer. It was so gorgeous, we couldn't have asked for better weather!

The Palouse in it's spring glory!
The wide open blue sky showcasing it's fluffy friends! We hiked up Kamiak Butte. Here's the view from the top.
The well worn trail.
Awe!
Elizabeth (Shane's mom) had joined all of us for the weekend too! It was fun to have one of our mom's around to help celebrate with on Sunday!
WildflowersWe enjoyed spending time with our friends and their cute little ones! This is Mike and Calysta's little Cora. She is showing us how old she is going to be (one). Finnlan showing us how cute he is while his sister Berlyn is hard at work in the background.

We also helped celebrate a birthday for one of our dear friends.
Thanks Moscow for the wonderful memories, and for letting us soak up some sun rays this weekend!

Missing Home

Since we got married last summer, I've only been able to go back home twice. Once right after we got home from our honeymoon to move my belongings to Seattle, and then for a quick weekend over Valentine's day. So... I've just been reminiscing about my childhood, and the place I call home.
~
These are just a few pictures that remind me of the wonderful place where I grew up. I am continually grateful for the privilege of being raised on a farm and all the valuable lessons I have gained from my experiences.

~Beautiful Sunsets.
Something I don't get to see here in Seattle.Working hard.
Nothing shows a hard day of work like the dirt under your nails.(unless you're wearing gloves!)
The beauty of nature.
Enjoying the wildflowers at Lake Cleveland The Machinery.
My dad teaching me how to drive a truck
Amber waves of grain.
Playing in the grain.
Nothing compares to the feeling of grain underneath your feet! Here I am with my nephew Korbin and sister in law Julie.Potato harvest.
I love and miss the smell of harvest!Wake boarding on the Snake River.
My brothers and I would sneak out in the evenings for a quick run after a hard day of work. It was the best time to go. The wind would always die down in the evenings and everyone had gone home for the evening... we had the river to ourselves.

I'm looking forward to my next trip home so I get to spend time in this beautiful place I call home. I will always treasure the times I get to spend in the crisp country air!
